Safari jackets are one of the ultimate staples of a true gentleman’s wardrobe. Whilst real-life safaris with big game hunting are thankfully a thing of the past, Alexander Kraft has adapted this classic garment for today’s use in the urban jungle: just like its ancestors worn by the likes of Clark Gable, Ernest Hemingway and co. The AK MC ‘USJ’ (Urban Safari Jacket) has four practical patch pockets and a belt; however, it is cut shorter and slimmer than traditional models that often tend to be on the bulky side, and features a sleeker lapel adopted from more formal jackets. It is half-lined and made of robust yet light cotton, making it the perfect companion for traveling as well as for excursions into the city, be it just around the corner or on the other side of the world. The belt comes without a buckle and is of generous length, so it can be tied in an informal knot on the front (slightly off-center for a non-chalant look). Its greige color has been specially dyed for AK MC: Alexander Kraft did not want a typical tropical beige, but a sleeker, more urban iteration that looks great both in the wild and in the city.
